Enat is a modern leather product line that uses locally sourced materials and partners with local craftsmen in Ethiopia. We built a brand around the craftsmanship and cultural heritage behind each piece: the name cut as a stencil, a MADE IN ETHIOPIA stamp made for the leather itself, and a butterfly mark that carries the story.
Enat is a leather goods line made in Ethiopia from locally sourced hides, each piece worked with craftsmen there. It came to us in 2016 with the name and the product, and asked for an identity that put that craft and the country out front without dressing either up. The marks are made the way the product is, by hand and into the material. ENAT cut as a stencil reads as a brand in both senses of the word, and the boxed version of it, with MADE IN ETHIOPIA set beneath, is drawn to be pressed into leather rather than printed on a tag. The butterfly is the third piece, ESTD 2015 tucked into its wings, and it is the mark that does the storytelling in social posts and print.
Enat sources its materials in Ethiopia and makes each piece with local craftsmen. The identity had to carry that fact without dressing it up: a mark that sits quietly on the product, packaging that puts the leather ahead of the graphics, and photography that keeps hands and texture close to the lens. Across email and the website, a thin gold line frames the photographs and then stays out of their way.
