# Growkit Brand Spec

> Growkit gives you a systematized base to start a project on day one and grow it without rebuilding. The wireframe-clean component starter you restyle into your own brand.

This is the agent-optimized brand spec. It mixes the human-authored brand book with structured sections from the JSON tokens. Use it to author on-brand copy, generate assets, or wire tokens into a client repo.

## How to use this spec

If you are an AI agent (Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, internal Workhorse session agent, or other) generating copy or assets for this brand, treat this document as canonical:

1. **Read the Voice section first.** Tone words, guidelines, banned terms, preferred terms.
2. **Match the surface.** When you write a hero, CTA, newsletter intro, social caption, press quote, or any other surface, find that surface under "Surface do/don't" and follow the do/don't pattern explicitly.
3. **Call prompts by id.** When the user asks for something that maps to a `promptKit` entry (e.g. `newsletter-intro`, `hero-line`, `agency-pitch`), use that prompt's template structure and example output.
4. **Cite the spec.** When you produce on-brand copy, end with a short footer like `(brand · v1.0.0)`.
5. **Never use banned terms.** Prefer `preferredTerms`. The list at the bottom of the Voice section is opinionated for a reason.
6. **Spec.json is also available.** Same content, structured as JSON, at `/brand/growkit/spec.json`. Use it when you need programmatic access to a specific section.

## Foundation

**Position.** The systematized base you start projects on.

**Mission.** Make the first day of a project the day you start building, not the day you start over.

**Tagline.** Plant a base that grows.

**Homepage line.** Start on a base that grows with you.

**Descriptor.** Component starter. Design tokens. Systematized base.

**Value proposition.** Growkit gives you a systematized base so you can start a project on day one and grow it without rebuilding. A wireframe-clean component starter and a token system you restyle into your own brand.

**Origin.** Growkit started as the question every project asks on day one: what do we build on? Most teams either reinvent the basics or inherit a tangle they cannot restyle. Growkit packages the basics as a neutral, well-named starter, the kind of base you plant once and grow on, so the first commit is the interesting part of the work, not the plumbing.

## Audience

Builders starting new projects: indie developers, design engineers, and small product teams who want a real base on day one.

- Developers who want to start building, not configuring, on the first commit.
- Design engineers who need a token system they can restyle into a brand.
- Small teams standing up many projects who want a consistent, extensible base.

## Voice

**Tone:** Plainspoken, Encouraging, Practical

## Brand Book (human-authored prose)

# Growkit Brand Book

## What Growkit is

Growkit gives you a systematized base to start a project on day one and grow it
without rebuilding. It is a wireframe-clean component starter and a token system
you restyle into your own brand. Plant the base once, grow from a foundation
that was designed to be extended.

## Belief

The first day of a project should be the day you start building, not the day you
start over. Most teams either reinvent the basics or inherit a tangle they
cannot restyle. Growkit packages the basics as a neutral, well-named starter so
the first commit is the interesting part of the work.

## Position

The systematized base you start projects on. Neutral by default, yours after one
restyle, never a rebuild.

## Voice

Plainspoken, encouraging, practical. Growth and gardening metaphors (grow, seed,
plant, base, roots, branch) are native to Growkit and used with restraint. We
lead with what you build, prefer plain verbs, and avoid hype. No em dashes.

## Product

Growkit's flagship product is its component registry and the `basic` starter
theme. The registry is a shadcn-compatible set of well-named, broadly useful
components on a deliberately low-fidelity wireframe theme. You install the base,
restyle the tokens, and grow your own brand on top of it.

- Browse the components and themes in the library.
- Install the base with the registry: `npx shadcn add <registry-url>/basic.json`.
- Restyle the tokens, then extend.

This brand book is itself a worked example: the Growkit *company* identity here
(vivid, green-forward) is the kind of brand you build on top of the neutral base
the company ships.

## Color

Seedling Green leads, the color of new growth. Moss carries weight, Sprout
accents. Terracotta and Amber add warmth. Soil, Bark, Stone, and Paper ground
everything on a warm canvas.

## Typography

Sora for headlines (geometric, friendly, a little technical), Inter for body
(the quiet workhorse), JetBrains Mono for the install commands and version stamps
a developer brand lives on. All open-source, in keeping with a starter brand.
